Spark New Zealand to join global network of operators using Mobileum’s security solutions to protect their network and customers
CUPERTINO, CA – 23 April 2024 – Mobileum Inc. (“Mobileum”), a leading global provider of analytics and network solutions, is pleased to announce that Spark, New Zealand's largest telecommunications and digital services provider, is launching Mobileum’s multi-protocol signaling firewall and SMS firewall as part of its ongoing commitment to protect its customers from voice, digital, and SMS cybersecurity threats.
The protections include defenses against SMS scams, phishing, and malware. Mobileum’s team of security experts will provide ongoing operational support to manage the solution and make sure Spark gets continuous access to its global security expertise and threat intelligence.

Mobileum’s solution provides both signaling and SMS protection under the same platform, which will enhance security intelligence and provide more convenience for Spark’s security and fraud teams. The implementation of Mobileum’s multi-protocol signaling firewall will ensure that all of Spark’s SS7, Diameter, GTP and SMS traffic will have an increased layer of protection against malicious attacks, relying on a combination of rules-based algorithms to identify known and abnormal patterns, block bad actors and flag new types of emerging attacks.
The SMS firewall is expected to significantly reduce the amount of SMS scams Spark’s mobile customers receive, lessening the risk of New Zealanders falling victim to fraud campaigns.
